HC directs TOA to permit Jayesh Ranjan to contest for president post

Hyderabad: In a relief to senior IAS officer and Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, the Telangana High Court on Friday directed the authorities of the Telangana Olympic Association to permit the officer to contest for the post of president in the election to be held on February 9.

The High Court passed the order while dealing with a petition filed by the officer challenging the rejection of his nomination to the post of the president by the Election officer of the association. In his petition, he urged the court to declare the order of the election officer to reject his nomination papers as illegal, arbitrary and contrary to the permission granted to him by the special chief secretary, Department of Sports authority to contest in the elections.

The HC faulted the decision of the election officer and told him to approve the nomination of the petitioner as he had already obtained permission from the Chief Secretary of the department concerned. The order of the HC has paved the way for Jayesh to contest the elections and compete with another aspirant for the post-Ranga Rao on Sunday.
