HCA Bans Players, Alleging Fake Paperwork; Offers ICC World Cup Tickets to Children

Mohammad Babillail, an Under-19 player, and Shashank Mehrotra, an HCA registered player, have been banned for five years by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) for allegedly providing bogus paperwork during squad selection. In this context, criminal charges have also been brought against them.

Suneel Kante, CEO of HCA, confirmed the suspension and added that an investigation had found the two players guilty of fabricating fake paperwork. As a result, they have been kicked from their respective teams.

The HCA is aiming to develop a comprehensive structure in order to eliminate such fraudulent acts in grassroots cricket. Attempts are also being made to educate clubs and coaching centers on the value of fair play and honesty.

Furthermore, for the next ICC Men’s ODI World Cup matches at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal, the HCA would offer roughly 2,000 tickets to children from Tribal Welfare and Minority Welfare schools.

On October 9, New Zealand will play the Netherlands, while on October 10, Pakistan will play Sri Lanka.
