Heavy rains to continue for three more days in Telangana

Several districts in Telangana are expected to experience very heavy rains for the next three days, according to the latest weather forecast

It has been raining continuously for the last five days, and heavy rains are likely to occur in several places during the next three days, according to the Met Department.

For the districts of Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem, Mancherial, Nirmal, and Nizamabad, the red alert remains in effect for heavy to very heavy rains with extremely heavy downpours.

It is predicted that heavy to extremely heavy rain will occur in isolated places in the districts of Jagitayal, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Warangal Rural and Urban.

Tuesday saw over 12 cm of rainfall in nearly 20 areas throughout the state. Jainoor in Kumuram Bheem experienced 17.9 cm of rainfall by evening, Arnakonda in Karimnagar received 17.8 cm, and Kanukula in Peddapalli had 117.7 cm.

The Jurala project in Jogulamba Gadwal district in Karnataka has seen steady inflows with heavy rains lashing the River Krishna catchment areas. Almatti and Narayanpur projects in Karnataka release water downstream towards Jurala.

A similar pattern of excessive rains is battering the Northern and Eastern Districts of the State, causing a significant inflow of water into the River Godavari basin.

Water is being released downstream from the Sriram Sagar, Yellampally, and Kadem projects.

Hussain Sagar water rises above full tank level

Abundant rains in the city have caused high inflows into Hussain Sagar, causing water levels to cross the lake’s full tank level (FTL) on Tuesday.

Hussain Sagar’s water level was measured at 513.44 meters, compared to the full tank level (FTL) of 513.41 meters. The lake’s maximum level is 514.75 meters.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is closely monitoring the water levels in Hussain Sagar and informing the Revenue and Irrigation departments of the situation.
