The Telangana High Court today cornered the State government over the construction of new buildings on the premises of historic Osmania General Hospital (OGH). It asked the State government as to what kind of decision it had overtaken over the construction of the hospital.
A bench led by the chief justice of the HC Justice Hima Kohli and comprising of Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy heard the case filed on the issue. The division bench asked whether it would not construct the new building in the other areas of the hospital complex other than the heritage building. Responding to the question the advocate general of the state AG Prasad urged the court to grant it some time to take a decision on the issue. Angered at this, it asked as to how much it required to take a decision on the issue. It made it clear that the attitude of the state government was not right in the issue.

It also asked the state government as to how it had not submitted the hospital site plan and Google Maps before it. It asked the AG as to why it should not initiate contempt of court proceedings against the principal secretary of the medical and health department in the issue.
Responding to this, the AG told the HC that the officials of the health department was busy controlling the Covid virus spread and added that they required some time to take a decision on the issue. Following this, the HC gave six weeks’ time to the government and asked it to submit a blueprint on the issue before the deadline.
