HMDA to conduct e-auction of 233 plots across Hyderabad

HMDA plans to conduct electronic auctions for 233 plots across Hyderabad to make up for the financial crisis caused by the Centre’s refusal to allow the city from going in for market borrowings this fiscal year because it had exceeded FRMB limits.

Turkayamjal, Thorrur, and Bahadurpally layouts are among the major areas where plots will be auctioned. Approximately Rs 500 crore is expected to be raised through the auction. The HMDA has released notification for 34 plots in Turkayamjal within the Outer Ring Road (ORR), 148 plots in Thorrur, and 51 plots in Bahadurpally, which are up for auction.

The auction will be conducted by an enterprise of the Government of India (GoI), MSTC Limited. Two sessions of e-auctions will be held on June 30 for 34 prime plots in Turkayamjal and 51 in Bahadurpally. There will be three auction dates in July for the 148 plots in the Thorrur layout.

34 plots in Turkayamjal is a multi-purpose zone and they have been divided into varying sizes, viz 14 plots in 600-700 sq. yds, 10 plots (701-800 sq. yds), five plots (800-850 sq. yds) and five plots (900-1000 sq. yds), said an HMDA press release.

HMDA saves Rs 41 crore with the new drip irrigation system

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has installed a new ‘drip irrigation system’ along a 158-kilometre length of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) that saves 6 lakh litres of water and Rs 41.34 crore in plantation maintenance costs.

Previously, the average annual expense for tanker watering, including maintenance, was Rs 20 crore. Because of the drip irrigation technology, the average annual expense, including maintenance, is now estimated to be Rs 14 crore.

A total of Rs 6 crore is saved each year. Previously, ORR’s vegetation care cost Rs 139.42 crore for seven years, but with the new technology, it will only cost Rs 98.32 crore for seven years, saving Rs 41.34 crore.
