HMR celebrates 72nd Independence Day

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL)Mcelebrated the 72nd Independence Day with nationalistic fervor at Metro Rail Bhavan, Begumpet today.

HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy unfurled the National Tricolor and congratulated the staff and their families and conveyed his best wishes to them. Addressing engineers and officers, he stated that it is a great moment for everyone to recall the sacrifices made by the legendary leaders who pioneered the freedom movement.

Reddy stated that the two stretches of Miyapur-Ameerpet (13 km, Corridor-I) and Ameerpet-Nagole (17 km, Corridor-III) are doing very well with an average daily ridership of more than 80,000, which is increasing day by day.

Stating that all the essential works have been completed in the stretch between Ameerpet- LB Nagar (16 km) of Corridor-I, he informed that the section will be opened for general public in the early part of next month (September). Application to Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) has already been submitted and CMRS inspection is expected towards the end of this month after receipt of safety assessment report of the Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) system from M/s. Halcrow, UK, who are the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) for the signaling system of Hyderabad Metro Rail project, he added.

Emphasizing the importance of Ameerpet-LB Nagar stretch which is mostly in the core area of the city, he goaded the engineers to showcase the heritage aspects of the city in the Urban Rejuvenation works in this stretch, especially between Assembly and MGBS which is being developed by HMRL as a “heritage precinct”.

Chief Electrical Engineer DVS Raju, Chief Engineer Pancham, Chief Signaling & Telecommunication Engineer .K.Laxman, Chief Project Manager Mr.B.Anand Mohan, Team Leader, Louis Berger Mr. R Krishna Swamy, senior engineers, officers and staff participated in the celebrations.(NSS)
