Hyderabad: Aadhaar-linked voter IDs may exclude 15 lakh voters

As a result of the Election Commission’s announcement linking voter ID cards with Aadhaar, a comprehensive voter list has been prepared.

It will ensure that the bogus voters are weeded out of the voter list. GHMC officials said that 15 lakh voters would be excluded if the voter ID is linked to the Aadhaar card.

Over 5 lakh votes were listed on the voting list during the past year, according to a source.

Business, trade, and employment opportunities are abundant in the city among people from Andhra Pradesh and other states. In addition, Hyderabad residents’ names are listed on the voting lists in their native cities. Voter IDs linked to Aadhaar cards must be added to the second list if they are linked to Aadhaar cards.

As Commissioner of GHMC, Somesh Kumar initiated the linking of voter ID cards to Aadhaar. A total of ten lakh duplicate voters were identified. In response to opposition by political parties, the process of weeding out these voters has been halted.

For voter IDs to be linked to Aadhar, form 6B must be filled out.
