Hyderabad: Hajj pilgrims to proceed from main terminal this year

As promised by the GMR authority, the Hajj pilgrims this year will proceed from the airport main terminal instead of the Hajj terminal, according to Mohammed Saleem, the newly elected chairman of the Telangana State Hajj Committee.

He said Tuesday that the Hajj flights are tentatively planned from June 17 to Jeddah directly from Hyderabad, during a meeting of the Telangana State Hajj Committee. Hajj pilgrims will depart from the airport’s main terminal.

In addition, Saleem instructed the staff of the Telangana State Hajj Committee to be punctual and render services without deviation. It is important to demonstrate an interest in serving the pilgrims whose travel documents should be submitted to the Hajj Committee, which then sends them to the Hajj Committee of India. During pilgrim departures, the State Hajj Committee must work round the clock. Employees who perform well will be rewarded.

B Saifulla, the executive officer of the Telangana Hajj committee, released a statement saying “pilgrims selected through the lottery, must submit their passports, copy of their passport, Hajj Application, Declaration and Certificate (each worth Rs. 81,000), two photographs, COVID-19 Certificate and bank details by May 6, 2022.”.

Pilgrims are requested to be prepared to travel to Hajj in mid-June. A notification regarding the Hajj training camps will be made available shortly. The Hajj Committee will be providing standardised baggage along with handbags (cabin baggage) to pilgrims this year. The Hajj Committee will also be organising training camps in the city and districts shortly.

Pilgrims asked not to carry odd size baggage

It has been advised that pilgrims do not carry odd-sized luggage, cartons, boxes, etc. because they can delay flights at the airport due to the challenges of moving the luggage and other operational problems.

As a result, the government has instructed the Hajj Committee of India to ensure that pilgrims carry uniform standardized baggage.
