Hyderabad: HMDA demolishes 4 illegal buildings

As per the latest reports, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) demolished four illegally constructed buildings as part of its ongoing demolition drive.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) in collaboration with the District Task Force demolished four illegal structures in the Bandlaguda and Ghatkesar municipalities on Thursday as part of its drive against illegal structures.

Officials are taking action against unauthorized structures, which are buildings that were built without official permission from the local municipalities or the HMDA. HMDA officials and District Task Force personnel worked together to demolish four illegal buildings, including a ground floor plus two floors of 800 square yards of land and a building constructed on a ground floor plus six floors of 1,050 square yards of land in Bandlaguda Jagir Municipal Corporation.

In the Ghatkesar Municipality, two two-storied buildings built in violation of construction codes were also demolished. It should be noted that on January 17, 2022, the HMDA, in collaboration with District Task Forces and Urban Local Bodies overseen by the Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration, began the demolition drive.

2 days ago, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) also demolished six illegally constructed buildings in Manikonda and a few other areas. Two structures were demolished in Manikonda municipality, two in Dammaiguda municipality, and two in Nizampet Municipal Corporation. According to an HMDA press release, the ULB permitted the construction of a two-storied building. The multi-storied buildings were constructed while violating the permission.

On January 26, special teams were formed to conduct field visits and identify buildings that have violated construction norms. From the 100 buildings that were identified, 77 have been demolished and 23 have been sealed by the authority.

So far, 162 illegal buildings have been demolished as part of the demolition drive.
