Hyderabad: I-TIMS ticketing system to be introduced by TSRTC soon

As per the latest reports, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is intending to introduce the Intelligent-Ticket Issue Machine System (i-TIMS) in city buses.

The I-TIMS system will be implemented in buses that operate within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits. Passengers will be able to book tickets 15 minutes before departure. Passengers can pay using UPI, cash, or credit/debit cards.

Reports said that passengers will also be able to view the arrival and departure times of the buses. The OPRS software supports the i-TIms. This enables the bus driver to issue tickets and update details in real time.

According to TSRTC officials, this strategy not only saves passengers time but also lets them know how many seats are available on the bus ahead of time.

Currently, bus tickets must be purchased in cash. Plans are also being developed to roll out smart cards following the implementation of a new system in order to provide better services to tourists.

For a long time, having the correct amount for a ticket was a major issue for both bus drivers and passengers. Following years of passenger complaints about cash crunch, particularly with smaller denominations, the TSRTC has decided to implement cashless transactions in buses operating within the Hyderabad City limits by installing swiping machines.

RTC officials also further reported that the Android-based machines will be operational in both buses and bus stations. Even bus pass counters will be outfitted with swiping machines for the renewal of student and general passes online transactions.

“Based on the performance and results from the first phase, the i-TIMS facilities will be extended to all city services now. Through this system, the passengers can do cashless transactions and also save time,” said TSRTC Regional Manager Ch Venkanna.
