Hyderabad Metro Rail asks commuters for input on ticket price revision

The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) has asked Metro commuters for their input on the proposed ticket fare revision. HMR operates on three lines: the Red Line (Miyapur-LB Nagar) has 27 stations, the Green Line (JBS-Falaknuma) has 15, and the Blue Line (Nagole-Raidurg) has 24. The lowest and highest ticket prices from one station to another are Rs 10 and Rs 60, respectively.

The Indian government formed the Fare Fixation Committee (FFC) to recommend rate revisions for the HMR. The FFC asked commuters for suggestions regarding the modification of fares.

“The FFC, headed by a retired high court judge, is set up to take a decision on revision of Metro rail fare. You are welcome to offer your suggestions,” tweeted Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary (Municipal Administration & Urban Development Department Department).

By November 15, commuters can email their suggestions to [email protected] or write to Chairman, FFC, Metro Rail Bhavan, Begumpet, Secunderabad, 500003, Telangana.

Due to high demand, the Hyderabad Metro Rail recently extended its service hours until 11 p.m. from all stations, with the first train departing at 6 a.m.

Svida Mobility Services and HMRL have also decided to launch 25 new last-mile routes to residential and commercial hubs.

E-autos and Tata wingers will be used for this purpose. The e-rickshaw fare must be paid on a daily basis; however, the fare will not increase even during peak hours.

Begumpet, HiTec City, Paradise, Tarnaka, Parade Ground, and Kukatpally will be within a 3-4 km radius of the routes.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail has also launched an end-to-end digital payment-enabled Metro ticket booking service via WhatsApp.

L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (L&TMRHL) said it is the first Metro rail in the country to offer fully digital payment-enabled WhatsApp e-ticketing.

According to a statement, L&TMRHL has partnered with fintech platform Billeasy as its delivery partner for passengers to book Metro tickets through WhatsApp and enable end-to-end digital mode of ticket booking, in line with the Indian government’s signature program of Digital India and promoting the green way of commuting.
