Hyderabad: Police Bust Fingerprint Surgery Racket Involved in Sending Youth to Gulf

Hyderabad has been hit with a new type of fraud involving fingerprints. The Rachakonda police on Thursday busted a gang of criminals who were removing fingerprints from youth in order to send them to Gulf countries for employment.

A doctor and a few other employees of a local hospital were arrested by the police. A police investigation is underway to determine who sent the youth to the Gulf and how many people had left the state using this route.

Police in Cyberabad busted a gang who were cloning fingerprints to withdraw funds using polymer, but this kind of racket involving the surgical procedure of changing fingerprints caught them off guard.

Reports indicate that fingerprints are required for traveling to Gulf countries for employment purposes. The opportunity to go there is lost if they are rejected.

Nevertheless, people find ways to travel abroad in a variety of ways. Taking advantage of this, the gang tried to cover the natural fingerprint formations through a surgical procedure that is said to last a year and enable them to travel abroad.

After the investigation is completed, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagwat is expected to hold a press conference with full details about this new racket.

590 kg of ganja seized by Rachakonda police

On Sunday, the Abdullapurmet police and the L.B. Nagar Special Operation Team apprehended a gang that was smuggling ganja from Malkangiri, Odisha, to Maharashtra via Hyderabad.

Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat told reporters on Monday that the total seizure was worth about 1.30 crore.

Since 2019, the accused has been obtaining ganja from the Andhra-Odisha Border for 3,000 per kg and selling it to local peddlers in various parts of Maharashtra at five times or more, he said.

The gang was apprehended on Sunday near Pedda Amberpet on the entry approach from the Outer Ring Road by a police team.
