Hyderabad: Police deploy 35K cops for Ganesh immersion to maintain peace

According to Telangana Director General of Police Mahender Reddy, 35,000 police officers are on security duty in the three commissionerates of the city ahead of Friday’s Ganesh immersion ceremonies.

DGP Mahender Reddy monitors the Ganesh immersion rallies in many cities of the state, including Hyderabad, from his office through 10 lakh CCTV cameras.

Over the past ten days, Ganesh Utsav has been held peacefully without any untoward incidents, thanks to the police.

Various cities and towns in the state, including Hyderabad, have been arranged peacefully in concert with the police department. The DGP requested everyone to cooperate with the police to make this immersion program a peaceful one.

Due to the Ganesh immersion, Cyberabad Police Commissioner issued orders to close toddy shops and bars, including those attached to restaurants, for two days.

The restrictions are in place to ensure law and order in areas where Ganesh idol immersion processions will take place over the next two days.

The commissioner stated that all police inspectors and additional inspectors of Hyderabad’s law and order police stations will be authorized to take appropriate legal action against those who violate this rule.

Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the most famous festivals, was celebrated for ten days across India and has now concluded.

Today, the state’s twin cities of Hyderabad- Secunderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts are conducting a Ganesh Idol immersion procession.

The Telangana government has declared Friday a holiday in commemoration of the Ganesh Idol Immersion. All schools, offices, and colleges in and around the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, as well as the districts of Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri in Telangana State, will be closed today.

On Friday, the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) extended its metro train services beyond regular operating hours for the convenience of passengers. The final train would leave at 1 a.m. Saturday, September 10th, from the respective starting stations to the respective terminating stations at 2 a.m.
