Hyderabad: Qualcomm opens 1.8 million sqft office at Raheja Commerzone

Qualcomm inaugurated a new 1.8 million sq ft office at Raheja Commerzone in Madhapur on Thursday, adding to the list of technology companies establishing large campuses in Hyderabad. According to reports, this facility would employ approximately 8,700 people.

On Thursday, Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon officially opened the company’s new office in Commerzone. According to a tweet from Mindspace Business Parks, the event was attended by Vinod Rohira, CEO of Mindspace, and Akash Palkhiwala, CFO of Qualcomm.

Earlier this year, Qualcomm announced this project during the visit of IT Minister KT Rama Rao to the United States. Qualcomm then announced plans to build its second largest campus in Hyderabad, with a five-year investment of Rs 3,904.5 crore.

Qualcomm made the announcement following a meeting between Rama Rao and Qualcomm Chief Financial Officer Akash Palkiwala and other senior executives.

The presence of talented manpower, as well as good and industry-friendly policies in Telangana State, were the primary reasons for its decision to expand to Hyderabad. The company also stated that it intends to make significant investments over the next five years.

Aside from software, Qualcomm was interested in opportunities in agriculture, education, connected devices, and smart cities. The company manufactures semiconductors, software, and wireless technology-related services. Qualcomm’s product portfolio includes processors, modems, platforms, RF systems, connectivity, and other related fields.

During his current visit to India, Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss 5G and India’s semiconductor opportunity. PM Modi met Amon during his visit to the United States in September 2021.

Earlier this week, during a media round table, Amon stated that Qualcomm has been in India for a long time and is working on the advanced and deep design in the country.
