Hyderabad: Single dialysis session at Century Hospitals now costs Rs.1400

In a recent announcement, city-based Century Hospital, Banjara Hills, announced that the cost of a dialysis session had been cut down to Rs. 1400.

Usually, a kidney dialysis session in corporate hospitals costs upwards of Rs. 3, 000, so Century multi-speciality hospitals’ reduction of the cost of a single dialysis session is an affordable option for chronic kidney disease patients in Hyderabad who need dialysis.

“Dialysis is a long-term requirement for kidney patients, which adversely affects the financial planning of a typical Indian household,” said Dr Hemanth Kaukuntla, CEO of Century Hospital.”

“Kidney patients are fighting for their lives every day, and it is vital that dialysis be performed in the most hygienic environment possible. With this in mind, we have decided to drastically reduce the cost of dialysis for kidney patients and their families, providing much-needed financial relief to those in need,” Hemanth added.

The CKD patients in Hyderabad can contact the hospital staff at 040-67833333, for these low rates.

Govt hospitals to offer knee replacement surgery soon

All government hospitals in the state will soon offer knee replacement surgeries. Private hospitals charge between 2.5 lakhs and 3 lakhs for the surgery.

Harish Rao, the health minister, announced that the medical procedures would be expanded at Gandhi Hospital and Osmania General Hospital. The program will extend beyond tertiary care hospitals in Hyderabad, however.

At Government District Hospital in Siddipet, knee replacement surgeries were performed for the first time.

Three people, including two farmers, underwent the procedure. Rs. 95,000 was spent on the procedure for the patient by the state government.

According to Harish Rao, they are using imported implants for the surgery, the same ones used in corporate hospitals. “Quality is not being compromised,” he explained.

At a press conference after speaking to the patients, Mr Harish Rao instructed orthopedicians to perform six knee replacements in a week and to conduct camps to identify those who need the procedure.
