Hyderabad: State Govt to Open 24×7 Helpdesk for Migrants at Airport

Malla Reddy, the state’s minister of labor and employment and the chairman of The Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM), gave instructions to officials to help open a 24×7 helpdesk at Shamshabad’s international terminal for people who are leaving the country in quest of employment.

Malla Reddy was informed about the Te-Migrant app during a meeting with TOMCOM’s board of directors held here on Monday. Te-Migrant was created with assistance from the Center for Good Governance (CGG). The software enables migratory employees to file grievances in any language, anywhere in the world.

In collaboration with the regional passport office and the protector of emigrants office, Malla Reddy instructed officials to host a meeting with registered overseas recruitment companies in the first week of November to discuss employment.

Officials informed Malla Reddy of the 3,879 candidates who had received pre-departure orientation training in centers in Hyderabad, Nizamabad, and Karimnagar since May 2019. Adilabad, Nirmal, Rajanna-Sircilla, Jagitial, and Kamareddy are the five more centers that have been added. Due to the significant population migration, Malla Reddy gave TOMCOM the order to add the districts of Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy.

Malla Reddy further requested that TOMCOM officials speak with Indian embassies about job prospects.  “Create awareness among the unemployed youth regarding overseas jobs through good publicity,” the minister advised.

It is worth mentioning that from the airport in Hyderabad, workers from the states frequently travel to Gulf countries like Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Dubai. However, many people are having issues after traveling abroad because of the fraud of the agents and a lack of necessary papers. They suffer greatly abroad because they are unaware of their rights.

The state government established TOMCOM to facilitate overseas recruiting and raise awareness against illegal migration.
