Hyderabad: Thieves Steal Copper Wire from Police Command Control Centre

Copper wire bundles worth several lakhs were stolen from a Police Command Control Centre at Banjara Hills by unidentified persons. The centre was reportedly under construction when the thieves decided to strike it.

Burglars broke into a site in Banjara Hills and obtained about 38 bundles of copper wire used for construction purposes.

The worth of the stolen material was estimated to be about Rs.10 lakh. The Banjara Hills police have begun an investigation after receiving a complaint from Suresh Krishna, the project manager. They believe the theft was the work of an insider.

Cops seize 25 bikes from an honest thief

During a vehicle check, Nalgonda police arrested a 54-year-old bike thief who has a unique modus operandi (MO) of confessing to all his crimes when he gets caught. The defendant confesses to all of his crimes in court and never asks for bail.

He takes advantage of free legal services from the legal services authority and is released early for good behaviour. In recognition of his good behaviour, he was previously appointed yoga instructor in the prison.

Vemuri Krishna, the accused, graduated with a BSc from Kattakommagudem village in the Suryapeta district. Nalgonda superintendent of police (SP) Rema Rajeshwari says Krishna has been committing thefts since he turned 19 and has committed 127 crimes so far.

While conducting a vehicle check on the Sagar road, the police of Miryalaguda II Town in Nalgonda encountered a bike rider. During the interrogation, the bike rider admitted he had stolen the bike in Miryalaguda after he could not produce the vehicle’s documents.

He was last arrested in 2019 and released from prison on September 22, 2021, according to Nandigama police. After being released, he committed a series of burglaries in Miryalaguda, Suryapet, and Khammam, according to the SP. Police recovered 25 stolen bikes worth Rs 15 lakh in his confession.
