Hyderabad to have Qualcomm’s second-biggest campus by October

Qualcomm announced the establishment of its second-biggest campus in Hyderabad, with a five-year investment of Rs 3,904.55 crore. The campus construction is underway, and the facility will be operational by October of this year. This facility will employ approximately 8700 employees, the software and semiconductor company told KT Rama Rao, who is currently on a visit to the United States.

The software company will join the ranks of numerous others that have their largest campuses outside of the United States in Hyderabad.

Two additional US-based companies, golf equipment manufacturer Callaway Golf and electric vehicle manufacturer Fisker Inc., have also announced plans to establish technological centres in Hyderabad, employing approximately 600 employees.

Callaway is an intriguing addition to Hyderabad’s many IT & Tech Development Centers. This investment creates a new sector, and many more prospective clients from sports and related fields will look to Hyderabad to establish their technological centres.

Qualcomm made the announcement during a meeting between Rama Rao and the company’s Chief Financial Officer Akash Palkiwala, Vice Presidents James Jean, Lakshmi Rayapudi, Parag Agase, and Director Dev Singh.

The company informed the Minister of the progress being made on the Hyderabad campus, which will be its second-biggest with 15.72 lakh square feet of area. It will be finished by October of this year.

Telangana State’s presence of a talented workforce, as well as its good and industry-friendly policies, are the primary reasons for it to choose Hyderabad for expansion. In addition, the corporation intends to make considerable investments over the next five years.

Aside from software, Qualcomm is exploring prospects in agriculture, education, connected devices, and smart cities. The company is involved in the development of semiconductors, software, and wireless technology services.

It possesses essential patents for 5G, 4G, CDMA, and other mobile communications standards. Rama Rao expressed his happiness at Qualcomm’s decision to make large investments in Hyderabad, noting that the city is already home to several major names in the technology sector.

Rama Rao has previously met with Callaway Golf Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Brain Lynch, as well as Chief Information Officer Sai Koorapati.

Callaway Golf had announced the establishment of its DigiTech Centre in Hyderabad, which would employ about 300 software professionals. It will be in charge of data analytics as well as IT-backed support for its global operations. Callaway Golf is a premium golf equipment and active lifestyle company with a portfolio of global brands such as Callaway Golf, Odyssey, OGIO, TravisMathew, and Jack Wolfskin.

The corporation generates $3.2 billion in revenue each year.

Rama Rao also addressed potential collaborative opportunities in Telangana, such as manufacturing and sports tourism. After considering several cities throughout the world, Callaway has decided on Hyderabad.

Fisker Inc, an American electric vehicle firm, also chose Hyderabad as the location for their IT Development Center. It will begin with 300 IT professionals. In the United States, the Telangana delegation met with Fisker Inc Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Henrik Fisker, Chief Financial Officer Geeta Fisker, and the management team.

The company has been working with Telangana State for some time and officially announced its plans after meeting with Rama Rao in the United States.

Telangana, according to Rama Rao, will be the destination for the electric vehicle ecosystem, and the state is making several efforts in this area. He also provided a summary of the State’s Electric Vehicle Policy, stating that companies such as ZF and Hyundai are already functioning in Hyderabad.

The state will assist in the production of electric vehicles. According to him, Hyderabad offers a lot of potential for design, research, and development initiatives in the automobile industry.

Fisker will send a team to Hyderabad soon to learn more about the local EV ecosystem and to explore potential areas of collaboration. The company stated its willingness to be a part of Telangana’s Mobility Cluster.
