To reduce the number of road accidents caused by drunk drivers, the city traffic police will conduct a check operation from midnight to 3 a.m.
Cops in all traffic police stations have been directed to remain vigilant round the clock, uptake checking drive after midnight, and scrutinize hot spots with a history of road accidents involving drunk drivers in particular.
According to department officials, special teams for the operation have been formed, each led by an inspector or a Sub-Inspector.
Furthermore, traffic cops have identified hot spots in the city, which include areas with hotels, bars, and pubs.
In addition, the operation of the drunk driving operation is recorded in order to refute allegations made by individuals who misbehave with the traffic cops after they get caught and to book them as per local law.

So far in 2023, 13,431 people have been caught for driving while intoxicated, with 1317 being sentenced to jail.
While 243 people’s driving licenses were suspended, 53 licenses were permanently cancelled by road transport authority officials in response to court orders.
People booked for drunk driving were fined a total of Rs 3,21,39,060 and counseled at the Traffic Training Institute in Goshamahal and Begumpet.
