Hyderabad: Young Muslim man beaten up for not chanting “Jai Sri Ram”

The details indicate that Mohammed Shahid aka Afridi, a resident of Hussainialam, was on his way back to the house while a Bonalu procession was passing by Shad cafe Hussainialam.

When Shahid refused to chant Jai Sri Ram slogans, he was severely beaten by a group of miscreants who applied Tilak to his forehead.

The old city’s Charminar area was tensed late Thursday night after miscreants attacked Mohammed Shahid who refused to chant the Jai Sri Ram slogan during the Bonalu procession. Trouble mongers have been identified and taken into custody by the police.

A case was filed by Shahid with the Charminar police after he lodged a complaint. An investigation into the incident is being conducted by a team of Task Force police, who have found Rupesh Sharma to be the prime perpetrator. The case is being investigated by the police.

A senior health official advised temple staff to supervise compliance with social distancing and masks as lakhs of people offer ‘Bonams’ in 30 temples in Cantonment.

Booster doses are being administered to residents of Cantonment every day by the health department. All those who are over 18 years of age and have completed their second dose will receive booster doses, according to the health official, adding that residents can get vaccinated at Picket, Trimulgherry, Bowenpally, Bollarum, and Balamrai health centers.
