Continuing her string of absurd claims, BJP MP Pragya Thakur said today that cow urine can cure lung infection inflicted by coronavirus. She disclosed that she consumed cow urine every day to keep herself protected from covid and apparently has been safe from the virus so far.
Stressing on the use of an indigenous cow’s urine, Pragya Thakur told during a party meeting, “If we have desi gau mutra (urine from an indigenous cow) every day, then it cures lung infection from Covid. I am in deep pain but I take cow urine every day. So now, I don’t have to take any medicine against corona and I don’t have corona.”
The MP who on usual days identifies herself as a Hindu saint wearing saffron robes is often heard speaking about the “powers” of cow urine. Two years back, she had claimed that a mix of cow urine and other things cured her cancer.
Calling it “amrit”, she said, “Gau mutra is a life-saver.”
Back in 2020’s December, Pragya Thakur was suffering from covid-19 symptoms for which she was admitted to AIIMS hospital, Delhi.

The latest claim comes after repeated warnings from doctors and experts against the use of items other than those proven in studies for treating covid. The IMA (Indian Medical Association) said there’s no scientific proof supporting the use of cow urine or dung in curing or preventing the deadly disease.
“There is no concrete scientific evidence that cow dung or urine boosts immunity against COVID-19,” Dr JA Jayalal, the head of IMA said.
Joining Pragya Thakur’s clan with similar claims is Surendra Singh, an MLA from BJP in Uttar Pradesh who said earlier in May that cow urine had protected him from coronavirus. He also went ahead to suggest drinking “cow urine with a glass of cold water”.
Furthermore, BJP Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh had said last year during an event in Kolkata, “I have no qualm in accepting I consume cow urine”. In the same gathering, people were urged to consume cow urine to keep themselves safe from the virus.
