If governments can last 5 years, so can protests: Tikait

As the farmers are protesting at the various borders of Delhi against the passed agricultural bills by the central government the protest has entered its 50th days on Thursday.

Rakesh Tikait spokesperson Bharatiya Kisan union has said that if the government can hold office for 5 years, why can’t the farmers protest to go on for the same period of time.

Tikait said that “If the government can function for five years, why can’t the movement go on? We respect the Supreme Court’s decision but are not happy with the committee (set by the apex court). farmers movement will continue till the government withdraws the farm laws,”.

Speaking about the preparations of the program planned by the farmers on 26 of January on the occasion of republic day. Tikait has said that they have started procuring tricolors.

Tikait said that the farmer’s organizations led by Samkyukta Kisan Morcha has decided to continue all the other previously announced programs to intensify the movement and including taking out the parade across the country on the republic day.

Tikait also added that “Our preparations for January 26 event are complete. We will have a meeting to see where we can hold the parade in Delhi,”

After the Eight rounds of negotiations with the Central government over the controversial farm laws by the farmer, leaders have been inconclusive. The Supreme Court has put the stayed on the implementation of these farm laws after hearing the various petitions filed for new agricultural laws.

The Supreme court has made a committee of experts consisting of four members, to resolve the issue. but the farmer organizations are not happy with the Committee, saying its members have been advocates of the newly passed farm laws.
