IFAT Support ‘’Janata Curfew’’

Hyderabad: Indian Federation of App-based Transport Workers (IFAT) will extend its wholehearted support to the call of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for a “Janata Curfew” from 7 am to 9 pm on Sunday, 22nd March 2020, across India to stop the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.

Elaborating on an emergency resolution passed by affiliates, Shaik Salauddin, National General Secretary IFAT said “In these times of crisis in order to curb the spread of this virus the drivers and delivery workers employed with app-based companies like Ola, Uber, Swiggy, Zomato, and others have remained vigilant and alert. Although this pandemic has an immense negative impact on the livelihood of our members to which our companies have preferred to remain blind, we have pledged to support the “Janata Curfew” as a sign of solidarity with the initiatives of our Prime minister and government of India and in the larger national interest. We hope that the government will recognize the contribution of the app-based transport/delivery workers and extend a financial support package to overcome hardships in drivers’ families”.

IFAT represents workers employed with app-based urban transport and delivery workers and has an outreach to over 5 lakh+ drivers in all the major cities of India.
