IMD issues yellow alerts for six districts in Telangana

The India Meteorological Department Hyderabad (IMD-H) has issued a yellow signal for six Telangana districts. Peddapalli, Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, Nalgonda, and Khammam are the six districts.

The prediction was for mild to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning throughout the districts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to IMD, colour codes are used in weather warnings to highlight the severity of the impending meteorological events. A yellow alert suggests that the forecast should be adjusted. It is used to signal the possible severity of an impending meteorological event.

Meanwhile, the highest rainfall of 17.6 mm was recorded at Gundala in Bhadradri Kothagudem during the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 39.9 degrees Celsius was recorded at Endapally in Jagtial, and the lowest minimum temperature of 18.8 degrees Celsius was recorded at Shabad in Rangareddy.

Maximum temperatures are forecast to range from 37 to 40 degrees Celsius during the next three days, with low temperatures ranging from 21 to 24 degrees Celsius.

Heat waves grip parts of Telangana

Although it is just March, parts of Telangana are already witnessing heat waves, with maximum daily temperatures reaching 40-42 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists had said hot winds have already begun to blow in sections of the state, which is unusual for March.

On Friday, the maximum temperature in Nalgonda reached 43.5 degrees, the highest so far this season. This was 6.1 degrees above normal, according to the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre.

The maximum temperature in the state is 2-4 degrees higher than the average for the second and third weeks of March, which is 36-37 degrees.

According to Telangana State Development Planning Society data, Chaprala in Adilabad district had a maximum temperature of 41.8 degrees during the previous 24 hours.
