The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) have devised a comprehensive plan to improve the recreational offerings at Indira Park, one of the city’s popular parks catering to people of all ages and backgrounds. This plan calls for the development of a shaded walking corridor alongside the existing cycling track within the Indira Park grounds.
The proposed corridor and cycling track will encompass the park’s vast area, further enriching visitors’ park experiences. Notably, the government established the Panchatatva Park within Indira Park two years ago, which includes therapeutic walking trails for treating various ailments. To further develop Indira Park, one of Hyderabad’s largest parks, the state government has decided to build a dedicated cycling track and a sheltered walking corridor.
State Minister K.T. Rama Rao has directed officials from the Municipal Administration Department to expedite the park’s development in order to transform the 176-acre park into an internationally acclaimed green space. In addition to the cycling path, ideas for a shaded corridor have been sought. The minister has also directed that essential amenities be provided for tourists and visitors exploring the park.
According to sources, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will focus not only on the construction of the cycling track, but also on improving the children’s play area and ensuring the growth of the existing Panchatatva Park. Special Chief Secretary of the Municipal Administration Department, Arvind Kumar is said to have directed GHMC and HMDA officials to begin planning and preparations for tendering processes.
Given the scarcity of cycling paths on the narrow city streets, the government has taken the initiative to create new cycling paths and walking corridors within large parks. This will allow people to cycle and walk in a peaceful and pollution-free environment.
The GHMC and HMDA are committed to providing residents and visitors with exceptional recreational amenities that meet International standards, as well as a refreshing natural setting, as plans for the expansion and enrichment of Indira Park take shape.
