Intense heat set to hit Hyderabad, several districts in Telangana in coming days

In the coming days, Hyderabad and several other districts in the state are expected to experience intense heat. The India Meteorological Department-Hyderabad (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city until Wednesday, predicting maximum temperatures of 36 to 40 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures in the city and surrounding areas are expected to rise further beginning Thursday, with IMD-H issuing an orange alert. During this time, the temperature is expected to rise above 41 degrees Celsius.

Aside from Hyderabad, the weather department has issued an orange alert for the districts of Adilabad, Mancherial, Narayanpet, and Rajanna Sircilla for the next three days. Meanwhile, the State’s other districts have been issued a yellow alert.

Given the intense heat and rising temperatures, the IMD advised people to stay indoors during peak hours and avoid venturing out unless absolutely necessary. Although the weather is expected to remain hot and dry, scattered thunderstorms are possible in a few areas of the state beginning Tuesday. This is due to the hot weather, which is expected to cause atmospheric instability.

The heat wave season in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana typically begins in March, peaks in May, and relaxes in June, and the crucial four months, which puts a lot of strain on public healthcare institutions, also necessitates a lot of effort on the part of the general public to remain alert and cautious.

While the Directorate of Public Health (DPH) is implementing the summer action plan and preparing government hospitals for the summer months, health officials have urged the public to exercise caution and avoid heat strokes.

“The extreme temperatures and resultant atmospheric conditions adversely affect people and cause physiological stress, sometimes resulting in death. This is entirely preventable and people can take some simple measures to avoid morbidity and mortality due to extreme weather conditions,” says DPH, Telangana, Dr G Srinivasa Rao.
