International Mother Tongue Day Festival

Hyderabad : ‘Samaikya Bharathi’, social and cultural awareness organization, is organizing ‘Antharjatheeya Maatrhu Bhasha Dinitsavam 2019 (International Mother Tongue Day’ festival,  at  Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University  here, from 6 pm on February 21.
This was announced by P Kannayya, National coordinator, and M Ramraj, Telangana state President of Samaikya Bharathi.

They said that Dr K V Ramana, Advisor to Telangana State Government, will be chief guest, while    Dr Nandini Sidha Reddy, Chairman. Telangana Sahitya Academy, will preside over the event.  V V Lakshminarayana, retired IPS officer,  Dr Samala Ramesh Babu, Dr N B Sudhakar Reddy, K Gopal Reddy and others will speak on the occasion.

They called upon the Telugu people to realize the real reason for ruination of Telugu language and culture.  The cause will become known if one reads Lord Macaulay’s address to British Parliament on February 2, 1835. Macaulay said: “I have traveled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief.  Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such caliber, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage and therefore, I propose that we replace  her old and ancient education system, her culture, for it the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will lose their self-esteem, their native culture and they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation”.
Needless to say, the British achieved what they wanted and even after they left the country, we people have not realized the damage done by them to our culture, education, etc.) (NSS)
