International Taekwando Championship in city from June 11-16: Srinivas Goud

Hyderabad: Sports & Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud today unveiled a Mascot of second India Open International Taekwondo Championship competitions.

Talking to mediapersons at Secretariat here, the minister announced that the competitions are scheduled to be held at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium here from June 11 to 16. He addressed the meeting along with Sports secretary B Venkatesam, Sports MD Dinakar Babu, Prabhat Kumar Sharma, Secretary General of Taekwondo Federation of India and others. The World Taekwondo has sanctioned World Ranking tournament 2nd India Open International Championship, he said.

Srinivas Goud also said some 20 countries will be participating in the event, including United Kingdom (which first hosted 1st Taekwondo Championship, Australia, South Korea, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Bhutan, Nepal, Syria, Afghanistam and others. The minister also said the International Championship for Male and Female, including Cadel Junior in 11 to 13 years age group, Junior 14-17 years and Seniors about 17 years age groups are participating in the championships. Some 2,000 players of Cadel Junior and Senior Age groups will participate, the minister added. (NSS)
