Is exchequer empty? — govt not making payments under welfare schemes: BJP

Hyderabad: BJP deputy leader in Telangana Assembly NVSS Prabhakar today demanded that the State government convene Assembly session immediately to discuss about important issues related to the people’s welfare.

Addressing the media here today, Prabhakar said the TRS government was making announcements of new schemes but stopped making payments of old welfare schemes like Kalyan Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak. He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had announced in the Assembly that cheques to the beneficiaries of Kalyan Lakshmi and Shadi Mubakarak would be handed over on the same day of marriage. But, the cheques were being given to the applicants only after they delivered a child, he ridiculed.

The BJP leader said the financial condition of the TRS government was worse and payments to Arogyasree beneficiaries have been stopped and pensioners were not getting their pension regularly. The BJP MLA also alleged that Chief Minister KCR was trying to hamper ACB investigation after the investigating agency arrested an official of Irrigation department in a disproportionate assets case. It was unfortunate that the Chief Minister informed the Governor about his intention to amend the ACB Investigation Act, he added.

Condemning the police action against Swami Paripoornananda, Prabhakar said religious and non-government organizations have condemned the government’s act against the Swamiji. (NSS)
