‘Kanti Velugu’ Applauded 67 Lakh People Get Eye Tests

Hyderabad: The ‘Kanti Velugu’ (Eye treatment) programme launched by the State Government is receiving wide-spread response and appreciation from the people. According to official sources, more than 67 lakh people took advantage of the programme and were benefited.  Nearly 13 lakh people were given spectacles free of cost so far in the State.  The free eye testing and treatment camps, including surgeries wherever needed, were completed in about 3,800 villages till now.

In the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, eye screening was conducted on nearly 25,000 people yesterday.  Out of them, free spectacles were given to nearly 3,000 people, while 820 persons were referred for surgeries.  Many beneficiaries were applauding the scheme, according to official sources.
