Hyderabad: The ‘Kanti Velugu’ (Eye screening) programme, launched by the State Government, is receiving tremendous response from the people, and quite a large number of people were getting benefited through it.
According to official sources, nearly 1.03 crore people got their eyes screened so far during the last four months in the State. Of those tested, spectacles were given free of cost to nearly 18 lakh people, and the required surgeries were being done to lakhs people as a continuous process. So far, nearly even lakh people were referred to hospitals for necessary treatment and surgeries. The Medical and Health Department officials are conducting eye camps in all the villages for screening of eyes and recommending necessary surgeries. (NSS)
