Karnataka Government Announces Date For Class 10 Board Examinations; Offline

Amongst the states cancelling the board exams for Class 10 and Class 12, the Karnataka government on Monday announced the dates for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC).

Karnataka Class 10 Board Examinations Will Be For Two Days 

As per the latest reports, Karnataka Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar said that had a meeting with the bureaucrats and academic experts. Following the discussion, Class 10 Board Examination will only be conducted for two days. The centres for examination are spread across the state.

In a statement, he said that only on July 19, the examination will be conducted for core subjects like Maths, Social Science and Science. And on July 22, the examination will be held for languages. The hall tickets for the same will be released on June 30.

He further added that the examinations will be held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Students Allowed To Write Exams From Closest Centre

Talking about the migration during the pandemic, Kumar said that the children who had migrated will be allowed to give examinations from the centers closest to their locality. He said that the government has already collected data on the students who have migrated. To accommodate them, the Deputy Director of Public Instruction in the respective areas have already been informed.

Kumar added that last year, the government conducted the examinations over a period of six days. However, with the current situation, the exams will be conducted only for two days.

He informed that this year, 8.76 lakh students will appear for the SSLC examinations. Last year, 8.46 lakh students had appeared for the same. This year, the government has prepared 73,066 examination rooms as compared to last year when 48,000 rooms were prepared.

Kumar added those in charge of the examination centers will have to abide by the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) released by the state last week.
