Hyderabad: Cine critic Kathi Mahesh, today, approached High Court challenging the Telangana state DGP M Mahender Reddy orders externing him from the Hyderabad city for six months. The Court accepted the petition for trail and directed the Telangana state government to file counter on it within three weeks.
The police had externed Kathi Mahesh for making derogatory remarks against Lord Rama in a Telugu TV channel. After two days of Kathi Mahesh’s externment, the police also applied the same against Kakinada Sri Peetam pontiff Swamy Paripoornananda. Opposition parties particularly BJP opposed the externment of Swamy Paripoornananda. Swamy Paripoornananda was also approached Court challenging the punishment against him imposed by the Telangana police. In fact, both Kathi Mahesh and Swamy Paripoornananda were belongs to neighboring Andhra Pradesh State. (NSS)
