Kavitha files case against BJP leaders for defamation, seeks apology from them

MLC Kavitha filed defamation cases against MP Parvesh Verma and former MLC Manjinder Singh Sirsa the day after the Delhi BJP leaders claimed she was involved in the Delhi liquor case.

Her reputation as an elected representative was damaged by baseless allegations made against her by BJP leaders. She sought an unconditional apology from them.

Kavitha filed an injunction petition in the Hyderabad City Civil Court. In her statement, she stated that the BJP leaders were making baseless and false allegations against her with ulterior motives to tarnish her name as an elected representative of the people.

The BJP leaders must apologize unconditionally for making baseless allegations without any concrete evidence, she said. The district courts in all 33 districts of the state received similar cases.

She said the baseless comments made by the BJP leaders were an attempt to undermine her and her family’s reputation.  Kavitha said the statements damaged their reputation immensely.

She said she filed the suit to seek compensation for damage to her reputation. As a result of their baseless and false statements, Kavitha requested that the BJP leaders be ordered to pay a sum of Rs 1 crore to her. To prevent them from making statements against her, she requested the court to issue necessary injunctions.

On Tuesday, Delhi MP Parvesh Verma and former MLC Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who had made allegations against Kavitha, evaded media questions in New Delhi. Media persons asked the duo if they had any evidence to support the allegations filed against them in Telangana courts, but they evaded direct answers.

In their place, they stated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the case, was gathering evidence. In response to the media’s questions about making serious allegations against Kavitha without adequate evidence, they left the press conference without responding.
