KCR Asks Officials to Take Up Rescue Operations

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today instructed the officials to continue the rescue operations on war footing in the wake of incessant rains and the rivers and reservoirs receiving heavy inflows.

The chief minister also instructed all the department officials to work in coordination to reduce property damages and loss of lives due to heavy rains.

The CM already conducted reviews for two days on heavy rains. He held a high-level meeting at 12 Noon on rains at Pragati Bhavan today and continued for 6 hours and issued required instructions to the authorities by reviewing the flood situation.

KCR enquired floods

The CM gave required instructions to Irrigation officials following heavy inflows in rivers Krishna and Godavari above the warning level. He enquired about inflows and outflows in SRSP and other reservoirs with the officials. The CM assessed the situation on the shifting of people from the flood-prone areas. He estimated flood waters from Maharashtra and Godavari catchment areas and instructed the officials on phone in advance. He enquired about safety and other measures to ensure no transportation and power supply problems arised.

People of flood prone villages at Kadem project shifted

To ensure safety, people from 12 villages have been evacuated from flood prone villages under Kadem project. CM KCR spoke to Minister Indrakaran Reddy on phone and instructed him to take up safety operations at Kadem project. The CM also instructed Special Secretary to Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar to take required safety measures in Nirmal and other flood-prone municipalities. The CM asked Roads and Building minister V Prashant Reddy to take up repairs of damaged state and national highways. He directed the Chief Secretary, Irrigation officials, District Collectors, and SPs to ensure no loss of lives and take measures towards this direction.

Take up Safety measures in Bhadrachalam

CM KCR instructed Minister P Ajay Kumar to monitor the evacuation of people from flood affected areas in Bhadrachalam in the wake of increasing flood waters in the Godavari. He reviewed crop situation and breach of water bodies with Agriculture minister Niranjan Reddy and Rythu Bandhu Samithi President P Rajeshwar Reddy. He instructed them to make available adequate seeds and fertilizers soon after receding the floods.

Power supply Problems – take up restoration works

The CM instructed Energy CMD Prabhakar Rao, Raghuma Reddy,  Singareni CMD Sridhar to take steps to supply of uninterrupted power and also procure coal stocks to meet for one month requirement. The Energy department officials told CM KCR that 2300 electric poles have been damaged and 1600 were already restored. Repair works for other damaged poles are in the progress.  CMD Raghuma Reddy informed the CM that alternative arrangements are made to supply power in the areas where power supply is disrupted due to heavy rains.

Start Hydel power Generation

CM KCR instructed the officials to start hydel power generation where the projects are receiving heavy inflows. He asked ENC Muralidhar to lift flood waters from Devadula project where the works are in progress.

Release Funds Immediately

The Chief Minister instructed Special Chief Secretary to Finance Rama Krishna Rao to release required funds instantly to take up flood safety operations during the heavy rains and floods. State Chief Secretary and DGP have been asked to take immediate measures in the wake of the rain-related problems in the state. CM KCR appealed to people not to venture out of their homes.

Instructions to official machinery

The Chief Minister spoke to ministers,  collectors, and all department officials over phone about the situation from the high-level meeting and issued instructions to them.  He reiterated the Ministers and MLAs should not leave their local assembly constituencies until normalcy is restored.

Holidays extended

In the wake of continuation of heavy rains, the Chief Minister took the decision to extend holidays to all educational institutions till July 16. He instructed the officials of the education department to issue necessary orders in this regard.
