KCR Discusses on Gazette Notification, to Fight Legally for Krishna Water

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today held a key meeting on Gazette Notification by the centre and the Krishna water issue at Pragathi Bhavan here.

He addressed the meeting with chief secretary Somesh Kumar, principal secretary irrigation, Ramkrishna Rao, engineers, Lawyers and other top officials.

The chief minister reportedly decided to fight the Gazette notification for giving powers to Krishna and Godavari Boards on water issues.

The meeting gets important as the Centre has recently issued a Gazette Notification giving powers to the Krishna and Godavari boards to decide on water allocations and projects.

Telangana state opposed the Centre for the Gazette notification and not addressing the contentious Krishna water issue.

The Chief Minister took serious note of the Gazette notification and discussed a legal course to oppose it.

According to information, the chief minister has asked the legal and engineering officials and the state top brass to coordinate to fight in the Supreme Court.

Telangana registered its protest at the Centre, NGT and Jalshakti Minister by writing letters against the AP’s illegal projects that hamper state interests.

The state government opposed the Gazette notification besides deferring to the Krishna board meeting on August 9 on Krishna water row.
