KCR is committed to protecting Telangana’s interests

CM K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed his determination to fight against the politics of hatred and discrimination and asserted that there would be no compromise in protecting the interests of Telangana.

A national flag was raised at Public Gardens by the Chief Minister as part of Telangana Formation Day celebrations.

Telangana has made rapid progress in the last eight years, he said on the occasion. It achieved unimaginable victories, which no other State in the country has been able to achieve in 75 years.

Chandrashekhar Rao said Telangana has become a role model for the country in economic development, increasing per capita income, supplying free power to all sectors, constructing irrigation and water supply projects, improving the welfare of people, and growing IT, manufacturing, and almost every sector.

He criticised the BJP-led Central Government for discriminating in all aspects of welfare and development when Telangana was a part of Andhra Pradesh.

Telangana was now being treated the same way by the central government. He said it is unfortunate that the Centre is discouraging a progressive and development-oriented state like Telangana.

As the Central Government merged seven mandals in Khammam with Andhra Pradesh before Telangana celebrated its foundation day, discrimination had already begun. Sileru Power Project was lost as a consequence.

Telangana did not receive any additional funds from the Centre during the Covid pandemic. As a result, the funds that needed to be paid to the government were slashed, he said.

In response to the plight of the medical students stranded in Ukraine due to the war, a letter was written to the Prime Minister offering to host them in our colleges, with an assurance that the Telangana Government would bear the expenses. However, there has been no response so far, he said.

In response to a question concerning paddy procurement, he stated that the Central Government had failed to procure the paddy cultivated in the State.

He strongly objected to the Central Government’s strong centre-weak States approach, arguing that the Constitution gives the States considerable political, legislative, administrative, and autonomic powers.

So far, all the governments that ruled the Centre had eroded the Constitution and federal spirit, he said.

In the meantime, the Chief Minister presented checks of Rs.1 crore and Rs.2 crore to Kinnera Metla artist Padmasri Darshanam Mogulaiah, boxer Nikhat Zareen, and shooter Esha Singh. Earlier, he paid tribute to the Telangana Martyrs at Gun Park.
