KCR Launches Campaign for Telangana Assembly Elections

K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), Chief Minister and President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), is preparing to launch his electoral campaign for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections today in Medak.

KCR’s journey will take him by road from Hyderabad to Medak, where he will begin the distribution of an improved handicapped pension worth Rs 4015. In addition, he will open the party office, the District Superintendent of Police’s office, and the integrated district offices complex. He is slated to speak to a public meeting later in the day.

This is KCR’s first public address since the party’s candidates for the 2018 Telangana Assembly elections were announced. Telangana elections for the 119 constituency seats are scheduled for December 2023. K Chandrashekhar Rao, the President of the BRS and the Chief Minister, recently revealed the party’s slate of election candidates. He revealed the candidates for 115 of the 119 constituencies. The contenders for the other seats—Goshamahal, Nampally, Jangaon, and Narsapur—will be announced later.

Back in 2014, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), formerly known as the BRS, became the first administration in the newly constituted state of Telangana. It was able to keep power in 2018 because KCR advanced the elections, separating them from the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

If the TRS is able to retain power, KCR will become the first leader in South India to serve as Chief Minister for a third consecutive term. This is an important step in KCR’s efforts to interact with voters and garner support for his party in the upcoming Assembly elections.
