Komati promises Rs 500 cr corpus for Gulf workers

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and former minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today said they would create a Rs 500-crore corpus fund for the welfare of Gulf workers after coming to power. He also said they would give an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh to the family members of the Gulf workers, who die in any accident.

Reddy, who is also the chairman of the Congress Manifesto Committee, alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, who promised to create a corpus fund of Rs 1000 crore, cheated the people of the State by not fulfilling his promise. He alleged that the KCR Government did not render justice to the Gulf victims so far. Stating that over 10 lakh people of the State migrated to the Gulf countries in search of livelihood, Komatireddy said the Congress government would take all steps for the welfare of the all Gulf workers.
