Delhi: Warangal East former MLA firebrand leader Konda Surekha joined Congress party today in presence of AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi along with her husband here on Wednesday. On this occasion, Rahul Gandhi invited Surekha couple offering party Kanduva. Earlier, Konda couple had a meeting with AICC general secretary Gulam Nabi Azad and they joined Congress party only after getting clear assurance on their seats to be allocated to them. Congress party state leaders—Ponnala Laxmaiah, Shabbir Ali, Renuka Chowdhary and others present along with TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Later, speaking to the media, Konda Surekha said that their aim was to bring the Congress party to power while defeating the TRS Party. She made it clear that they joined Congress unconditionally. She alleged that the TRS party was taken up falsehood campaign against her only to shield their mistakes. She said that she told to Rahul Gandhi that she will strive hard to ensure the victory of the Congress party in five to six constituencies. She said that she will meet Rahul Gandhi again only after bringing the Congress party to power in Telangana state.
Konda Murali alleged that TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao was giving top priority to the leaders came from his community suppressing the BC leaders. Autocratic rule was going on in Telangana state, he said and slammed KCR saying that the latter did nothing to the backward and weaker sections. He said that they joined Congress party thinking that justice to be done to Telangana state only if Congress party comes to power.
TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party would strengthen with the Konda couple’s joining with the Congress party. He said that Konda couple joined Congress party unconditionally. He said that he didn’t discuss with them on the tickets to be allocated to them. He said that they will allocate seats to them only after discussing with the local leaders. He informed that Surekha will tour entire state along with Campaign Committee and campaign for the sake of Congress party. (NSS)
