Krishna Board meeting on June 4

Hyderabad: Krishna River Water Management Board will hold a key meeting on June 4 to settle water issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states.

The meeting is being held to address water issues following complaints by both Telugu states.  The board has informed the two states about the meeting to be conducted in Hyderabad on June 4 at 11 am.

The board member Secretary Paramesham has stated that Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were informed about the important meeting. It will be held to find a suitable solution he said.

While Telangana has complained to the board against 203 GO and proposal to draw waters from Srisailam via Pothireddipadu against bifurcation norms.  The Andhra Pradesh government too followed suit.

It has complained to the water board that Telangana did not obtain permission from the apex body to build several projects and related works.  As a result, the board has met earlier with both parties on the controversy.

The water board has set aside 203 GO and asked the AP government to give details of proposals of Pothireddipadu and Srisailam.  It also instructed Telangana officials to submit details of several projects.

The center has asked its water resources ministry to settle the row.  As a result, the Krishna board is holding the meeting.
