Law aspirant urged CJI to tighten the noose on deserter Waseem Razvi

Though whipped hard by the supreme court for filing a controversial petition seeking removal of 26 verses of the holy Quran that stoke an outrage among Muslim community, the contentious former chairman UP Shia Wakf Board Waseem Razvi is continue to receive lashes from across the country for his profanity laden rhetoric as series of complaints and cases are continue to file against him uninterruptedly.

Waseem Razvi’s move – that receives flak from both Sunni and Shia communities and even reproached by the ruling BJP government, failed to receive an audience from the supreme court that not only dismissed his plea seeking removal of 26 verses from Holy Quran but have slapped him a penalty of Rs.50,000 for filing such a frivolous PIL.

However, the outrage caused by Waseem Razvi keeps the coal of anger ​burning, with people from different walks of life ​have ​​continue filing complaints against him in local courts and police stations. Now, the law aspirants too have taken the matter seriously and are urging the apex body to not to allow the despicable act of Waseem Razvi to go unpunished as the perpetrator is desperately trying to escape the inquiries pending against him ​by ​beating the rap.

A fresh one came from Hyderabad where a city based law aspirant Barkat Ali Khan submitted a letter to Chief Justice of India seeking appropriate action against the Waseem Razvi and an appropriate direction for a through probe in a case filed by Shia Wakf Board against the deserter besides turning his plea into a Suo-Moto case.

In a letter to CJI dated 23rd June, Barkat Ali Khan accused Waseem Razvi of hurting the sentiments of minorities with profanity-laden PIL laced with abrasive rhetoric causing outrage among the Muslims of the country.

“Asking for removal of 26 verses from holy Quran by Waseem Razvi is unconstitutional and a violation of fundamental rights under article 29(1) – Constitutional language script or culture. Further, it is also a violation of Fundamental duties under article 51(A) – Promote Harmony, spirit of brotherhood, Violation of the copyrights act 1957 – section 14(1) – Reproduce issue copies of the work and Violation of the copyrights act 1957 – section 57 (1-C) – Distortion, Mutilation, Modification,” contended Barkat Ali Khan.

Dragging the CJI’s attention towards a pending case of embezzlement of waqf properties against Razvi, he said in his factum that, “The former chief of UP Shia Wakf Board desperately out to dilute the inquiry about his involvement in selling waqf properties while on office as Chairman.” Barkat Ali Khan, a law student of Sultan-Ul-Uloom College of Law, Hyderabad has prayed before the CJI that a probe in a pending shia waqf board case be ordered with a specific time frame to allow the truth to came out in the wash and the disingenuous Waseem Razvi to the justice.
