Hyderabad: The accused Katika Ravi, age:29 years R/o Srirangavaram,(Vill) Medchal, was today convicted with life imprisonment and fined Rs. 1,000/- in a case of torturing and murdering his wife. Medchal Police under the supervision of PV. Padmaja DCP Balanagar and Court Monitoring Cell of Women & Children Safety Wing Cyberabad Commissionerate got the accused convicted.
Katika Ravi is the husband of the deceased. They got married in the year 2015 in the presence of both side elders. At the time of marriage, the parents of the deceased have given gold, silver, and other household articles and net cash of Rs. 50,000/- to the accused as dowry. Thereafter she joined with the family members of the accused and where she led her conjugal life happily not more than one week and the accused was intentionally having an idea right from the beginning developed greedy and started demanding the deceased to arrange additional dowry of Rs.3 lacs. When she expressed the inability of her parents, the accused Ravi became wild and started torturing her along with his mother and brother several times physically and mentally. As the days were passing they have started humiliating her directly insisting to arrange additional dowry. Having been vexed towards their gruesome harassments, the deceased went to her parent’s house and informed them regarding their heinous and inhuman tortures. In this context village elder who made negotiations with the accused and his family members admonished them and have settled the issue amicably and by informing the accused not to repeat such acts in the future and sent the deceased to the house of accused. But the accused persons with the same attitude again started torturing the victim. Subsequently, the accused who are eagerly waiting for an opportunity eliminated the deceased by way of lighting fire to the saree of the deceased, resulting in flames blowup and the victim completely burnt and succumbed to injuries. The incident which was committed by the accused Ravi is so despicable and which was deliberately committed by him. Accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody on 25-11-2018.
In this case, IO S.Ashok Kumar ACP Petbasheerabad after completion of the investigation arrested the accused and sent him to judicial custody and filed the charge sheet in the Court. During the trial today the II ADJ Court at LB Nagar judge V. Venkata Seshu Babu convicted the accused Katika Ravi with life Imprisonment and fined Rs. 1,000.
