Major Fire at ‘Numaish’ All India Industrial Exhibition

Hyderabad: Major Fire Broke out at the annual All India Industrial Exhibitions also know as Numaish at around 8:30 PM today. As per sources the fire caused  heavy damage to stock and multiple shops were burned.

The Fire Department is trying to control the fire,  around 10 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to douse the flame. Several shops were razed to the ground as the fire spread quickly. There were  chaos as the visitors and shop owners began hastily making their way out of the venue from the  Exhibition grounds at Mukarramjahi Road, Nampally and there were a massive traffic jam outside the venue.

No causalities or injuries to the people were reported till reports last came in, as everyone noticed the fire and ran out for safety. We will assess  the damage once the fire is put out, officials are yet to determine what started the fire but they suspect that a short circuit could have led to the incident.

Some reports suggest that close to 100 stalls were destroyed in the fire, others stated that around seven people were admitted to the Osmania hospital and two were taken to Care Hospital in Nampally due to respiratory issues after smoke inhaling, among them were a  fire fighter was  reported to be  injured while trying to douse the fire.

Numaish commonly called is known as The All India Industrial Exhibition, is a yearly  event that has been held in Hyderabad  since last 79 years, drawing large  number of crowds each year from the city of Hyderabad and its surroundings area. Numaish began in 1938, during the time  of the last Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan, with an aim to promote locally made goods. Initially called ‘Numaish Masnuaat-e-Mulki’, the event,it was a idea of came out from the discussion of the Osmania Graduates Association and  the proposal was put before the prime Minister of Princely State of Hyderabad, Sir Akber Hyderi, and  was inaugurated by the VII Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan  which went on initially for 10 days first was held  at Public Gardens, drawing a huge crowds and in next  year, the event  was organised for 15 days as the Numaish gained Popularity among people it was extended for a month, it was in the year 1946 the event was shifted to the present  venue  This year about 2,900 stalls were  set up.
