Major job scam in city busted, 14 arrested

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police have busted a major job scam in the capital city. The sleuths arrested 14 suspects, including the chief executive officer of wisdom jobs.com, which resorted to job scam.

Revealing the details of the job scam, Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said the kingpin of the scam was Ajay Kolla. He said the company and its officials had cheated scores of unemployed youth by promising jobs to them. He also said they had formed ten special teams to investigate the case and nabbed the accused. The police also seized computers, records and other documents. He said the job portal had three crore registered users across the globe. The victims were mainly from India and Middle East, South Africa, Egypt, Qatar, Netherlands, Jordan, Lebanon, the UK, Srilanka, Australia, Malaysia and so on.

The frauds cheated the victims and pocketed Rs 70 crore from one lakh people (from 69,962 members from India collected Rs 28 crore, from 35,000 members of foreign countries $520 equivalent to Rs 40 crore). Many people had been cheated in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and so on. The Cyberabad police seized Rs 19 lakh from the accused. (NSS)
