Mild tension near Khairatabad Ganesh as Bajrang Dal activists stage protest

On Wednesday, Bajrang Dal activists protested against the arrest of BJP MLA T Raja Singh at Khairatabad Ganesh pandal.

A few Bajrang Dal members holding placards, led by Kiran Kumar, Khairatabad Division In charge, started chanting slogans in favor of Raja Singh in front of the Bada Ganesh pandal.

A placard displaying the message “We Support Raja Singh” was flashed at the police.

Police in Saifabad have taken the protestors into custody and transferred them to Ramgopalpet police station. As a result of his involvement in communal offenses repeatedly, BJP MLA T Raja Singh has been detained under the stringent PD Act.

Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had also called for a statewide protest in Koti on Monday. They claimed that the state government and police had completely failed to stop anti-Hindu forces.

Hindutva groups cited recent Muslim community protests calling for the arrest of suspended BJP MLA T Raja Singh for making a controversial video in which insensitive comments about Prophet Muhammed were made.

T Raja was arrested on August 26 by Telangana police under the PD Act (Preventive Detention Act) following days of protests by Muslims in the city.

The statement said that there is a plot afoot to engulf the peaceful “Bhagyanagara” in riots. Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) categorically deny this.

They demanded action against MP Assauddin Owaisi, who they claimed “took away about 100 criminals from the police stations in the Old City.  They also called for the arrest of Congress leaders Rashid Khan and Feroze Khan for statements they made during the unrest.

The statement further said that IT Minister K T Rama Rao should be removed from his position as a minister because he allowed the ‘Hindu traitor’ Munawar Faruqui to perform in Bhagyanagar before Vinayak Navratri.
