Military will not have a role in Election: US General

The US military does not have any plans of performing a role in the November 3 presidential election, according to the country’s top general.

As reported by the Xinhua news agency, executive of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, Mark Miley, said in a letter on Friday replying to inquiries from two House officials.

“In the event of a dispute over some aspect of the election, by law US courts and Congress are required to resolve any disputes, not the US military,”

Miley continued by saying: “I believe deeply in the principle of an apolitical US military, I foresee no role for the US Armed Forces in this process.”

The appropriate responses came as presidential candidates brought up questions over the military’s contribution in the current year’s political election.

President Donald Trump, also the 2020 Republican applicant, has raised the possibility that he won’t acknowledge the outcomes in November, alleging without giving any proof that mail-in voting could head towards widespread voter fraud.

“I have to see,” Trump disclosed to Fox News a month ago when inquired as to whether he would acknowledge the political election results.

“No, I’m not just going to say yes, I’m not going to say no, and I didn’t last time either.”

Trump’s opponent and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said in June that he’s “completely convinced” that the military will have to step in if Trump dismisses the outcomes.

Trump later recommended that the political decision should be delayed since the coronavirus pandemic has ensured that it could take days or even weeks to count mail-in ballots. In any case, that thought was quickly smacked down, including by top congressional Republicans, since the political election date must only be changed by Congress.
