Minister asks Irrigation officials to speed up works on Sitarama project

Hyderabad: Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar today instructed Irrigation officials to speed up works of Sitarama project in Khammam district.

The minister held a review meeting on the project which aims to irrigate some 6.74 lakh acres. He asked the irrigation officials to complete the works on land acquisition, canals, barrages and related. He also said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was for speedy completion of the projects. As CM KCR will visit the site soon, all the pending works should be completed expeditiously.

Ajay Kumar also pulled up the officials for not completing the project works on time. “Avoid delay and speed them up now”, he said. He also asked them to complete the works on time and ensure that the farmers get waters for about 3.45 lakh acres as planned. He also said the State government was spending huge funds for Irrigation and Agriculture sectors to boost the rural economy.  By the completion of the project, another 3.28 lakh acres will be brought under irrigation, he added.
