The Multi Modal Transport System (MMTS) train services that ferry around 1.7 lakh commuters daily on three different routes in the city– Secunderabad-Lingampalli, Hyderabad-Lingampalli Secunderabad-Falaknuma and Falaknuma-Lingampalli which commenced in the year 2003, completed 15 years of operations on Thursday.
On the occasion, Mr Amit Varadan, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division participated in the celebrations along with members of MMTS Travellers’ Association, Senior Citizens and commuters. The celebrations were arranged on board MMTS Train No 47154 Falaknuma-Lingampalli, between Secunderabad and Hi-Tec City. To commemorate the completion of 15 yrs of MMTS services a plantation program was organized at Hi-Tech city station to mark the mile stone reached.
The General Manager has decided to increase the number of cars from the present 9 to 12 cars for MMTS services soon, so as to handle the increasing demands, the DRM stated.
During the interaction, the MMTS users shared their views on improving the MMTS services and better the facilities. They opined that MMTS Phase-II which is being readied for launch will also meet positive response from rail users of the twin cities.
