Hyderabad: AITUC national general secretary Amarjith Kaur has alleged that Narendra Modi government was destroying the rights achieved by the workers through movements. Kaur warned that movements would be waged again if the Centre decides to amend the Labour Acts. She also lashed out at Prime Minister saying that his government succumbed to the corporate companies and doing slavery to Indian companies and to multi-national companies while looting the Indian resources and putting them in their hands.
AITUC Telangana State Council’s meeting was held at SN Reddy Bhavan here on Sunday under the chairmanship of AITUC president T Narasimhan. Speaking on the occasion, Amarjith Kaur alleged that Modi government was hatching conspiracy to destroy the public sector to hand over them to private persons. The Centre was also trying to invite foreign direct investments to allow them to occupy Railways and Defence sectors, Kaur said, adding that the Modi government has miserably failed on all fronts in the last four years.
The nation was in deep neck economical crisis and Modi government was extending its full support to foreign companies. BJP-ruled states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, along with the Centre were trying to amend the Labour laws. He warned that they will wage movements if the Centre tried to amend a single law.
Kaur alleged that the Modi government was destroying the rights mentioned in the preamble of the Constitution. The government was trying to make sure that there won’t be any right to the workers to float a union besides to see that there would not be any ID Act, Contract Act and Trade Union Act. Kaur also slammed the Centre alleging that it was trying to see that there won’t be 15 welfare rights, including ESI Social Security, PF, Bonus and gratuity. Both the State and Central governments were rendering gross injustice to workers by not implementing Minimum Wages Act to loot hard work of the workers.
Kaur also alleged that corruption increased in the Modi government and it failed to control prices of daily needs. The Centre earned Rs 2 lakh crore by increasing petrol and diesel prices. He demanded that the State government implement “equal work equal pay” to the contract and outsourcing workers besides solving RTC workers’ justified demands.
AITUC leaders Ujjini Ratnakar Rao, S Balraj, P Prem Pavani, V Seetharamaiah, K Gangadhar Rao and others participated in the meeting. (NSS)
